Haroon Gunn-Salie is a Cape Town born creator that specialises in translating community oral histories into artistic interventions and installations.
Through incorporating a multi-disciplinary approach, Gunn-Salie’s varied mediums have an underlying motif of engaging with South Africa’s post-colonial and post-apartheid moment and the legacies of political violence that engender it. In curating his work around site-specific interventions or public spaces, Haroon Gunn-Salie adheres to a grassroots activism that engages in cultural, historic and political dialogue exchange with local communities in a country that finds itself in a disillusioned transitional period.
