The Early Sign of the Khmer Rouge Atrocity: Recalling Memory of M-13 through Documentary Film

Puthea Sim

Ms. Sim has earned two degrees, a master's degree in Development Management at Norton University and a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

During her second year of university, she was an intern at one local organization that worked with underprivileged communities in the urban region, concentrating on the community’s surroundings and any issues they encountered. Following her university graduation, she has worked for international and local organizations focusing on the agricultural sector, development, administration, and procurement areas for over 15 years. With the inspiration of Bophana Cener’s incredible work to collect and preserve all the priceless heritage of Cambodia-related memory, she has started to join the Bophana Center since January 2023, holding the position of Program Coordinator to oversee the general project implementation and ensure its objectives have been achieved. She is also interested in documentary filmmaking on the Khmer Rouge, of which she is now a member of the project entitled “The Early Sign of the Khmer Rouge Atrocity: Recalling Memory of M-13 through Documentary Film”
